MITSUBISHI MATERIALS expands steel turning capabilities with the latest MC6100 series inserts. With their outstanding wear resistance and strength, these CVD coated carbide inserts handle a wide range of applications, including challenging environments.

MC6135 Multilayer coating structure

Popular range of plates MC6100 expands with the new quality MC6135 - an extremely durable alloy suitable for a variety of applications ranging from continuous turning to rough and interrupted cutting.

This new class will complement the existing range and provide end users with more choice for machining a wide range of steels and different production tasks.

MC6135 uses industry-leading crystal orientation control technology that enables thinner, yet impact-resistant coatings with improved resistance to breakage and abrasion. These features are optimal when using the extremely robust class of MC6135. Another advantage of the coating is that it is 50% thinner than previous types.

In discontinuous cutting tests conducted on DIN 41CrMo4 material, it was found that the life of the coated plate MC6135 has been extended by 20% compared to conventional grades.

MC6100 Series

MC6115 is a CVD-coated turning grade for machining steel that is capable of both high-speed machining and providing excellent cutting edge stability.

MC6125 is a very versatile alloy and can operate at the highest level in an extended range of different applications.          This makes it a very easy first choice of insert for turning steels and thus reduces stock holding.

Both types have innovative CVD coatings that provide a double advantage : excellent cutting edge stability and long insert life for machining a wide range of steels.

MC6115 features the combination of a high hardness base material and a new thick Al2O3 outer coating with improved wear and peel resistance at high temperatures, while MC6125 has the combination of a robust base material and the advantages of a multi-layer Al2O3 coating for improved wear resistance at high temperatures. It also has higher peel resistance and edge stability achieved through super TOUGH-GRIP technology. This ensures extremely good adhesion between the Al2O3 and TiCN base coat layers.

Technologies integrated in the MC6100 series

Super Nano Texture Technology

The exclusive crystalline orientation of the Al2O3 coating was developed through improvements to conventional nano texture technology. These technological improvements increase both wear resistance and tool life.

Super TOUGH-Grip

New bonding layer - Provides high coating adhesion and additional protection against peeling.

Inhibition of crack growth - The growth of cracks caused by impacts in unstable cutting edge machining is limited by reducing the tensile stress in the cover layer. MC6100 series coatings reduce residual tensile stress by up to 80% compared to conventional products.

 Alloy MC6135

The plates are coated in gold for easy identification , on used edges and are available in a huge
a range of negative and positive geometries. Wide selection of chipbreakers .

With these 1,300 new positive inserts, MITSUBISHI MATERIALS' MC6100 series is ready to meet any challenge!
